Tori Amos

Tori in Carriage

On one of my very first web sites, I created a tribute to Tori Amos. The page was called, as this one is, "Never Afraid to Burn". Many fans will recognize which song this line comes from, and to me it also describes Tori's boldness. She has a wonderful gift of music, and I enjoy her songs very much. During a time of trial I found her songs to be very comforting, and every time I listen, her music takes me back to that timeless place. The only thing that is disturbing about Tori is the way she reacts to Christianity. I find it to be understandable, because many Christians out there are just not Christ-like. On the other hand, there are many very kind and loving Christians who do not condemn people, and when Tori makes generalizations about "Christians", I am offended as anyone would be, being grouped into a sterotype. Of course, Tori, as all of us, only knows her own experiences. So I do hope and pray that she will meet some very good and true Christians, and I hope she can learn to separate Jesus from man. She seems to blame Jesus at times when it is the people who are the problem.

I own four of Tori's albums, and two single CD's. My favourite of her songs is "Yes, Anastasia" and my favourite song right now is "Talula (the tornado mix)". Another longtime favourite is "Tear In Your Hand".

Last year I started reading a few of the graphic novels called "Sandman" by Neil Gaiman (often mentioned in Tori's songs, but sadly absent from "Choirgirl Hotel")and I did enjoy the story of Death, a beautiful young girl who comes to Earth every century to walk amongst the people she "kills". The drawings were very beautiful, and Tori had written an introduction to one of the novels. So here I shall include some pictures of Tori, and some of Death as well. The two seem so different, but oddly similar, and thus belong together.

I can not begin to try and make a Tori Amos page up to the standards out there, there are so many wonderful Tori pages, and the people who made them obviously put much time and effort into their creation. I shall list some sites, because they can really offer the basic info on Ms. Amos that I do not have. I just love her songs, her music, her courage to be who she is and make no excuses.
